Presenter: Jodie L. Walz, Director of Digital Collections + Archives, College of Design, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities,

Description: The Digital Content Library (DCL), a collaboratively built and shared resource between the College of Design and the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, facilitates cross-collection searching of departmental collections and archives. By providing a central infrastructure that supports and preserves content via a union catalog, new collections can easily join the DCL and make their materials accessible to a larger audience through federated searching. Thumbnail images and cataloging descriptions are available to the world while larger images, along with audio and video are password protected. Through this project we are able to share expertise and content in addition to working in a collaborative manner across colleges and disciplines to serve the larger University community and the world. Enhanced searching, download, and media management functionality is currently being rolled out in Phase 2 changes.
